INTEGRATED energy provider AGL Energy has announced plans to restructure its executive team in order to reduce costs and remain competitive.

“I am making a number of changes to our leadership structure to capitalise on the opportunities that this dynamic environment will present in the years ahead,” AGL managing director and chief executive Andy Vesey said.

“These changes position AGL to deliver on our strategy, to provide improved products and services for our customers and to drive world-class productivity and capability across the organisation.”

The company will establish seven core business units that will form the new executive team: energy market operations, new energy, stakeholder relations, group operations, organisational transformation, people and culture, and finance and technology. The selection process for the new roles will begin immediately and take effect from 1 May.

Chief information officer Owen Coppage and chief economist and group head of corporate affairs announced their departures as a result of the restructure.
