Attracting top international specialists

LEADING projects firm Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM) has made a series of strategic appointments to its growing oil and gas business.
Highly respected hydrogeologist Gordon Kennedy recently relocated to Brisbane from the US to bolster the firm’s service offering to the CSG market in Australia.
Mr Kennedy brings with him experience from the Gulf Coast Basin in Texas and Louisiana, specialising in the technical and project management of wellfield design and assessment, water use permitting, well construction supervision and rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, SKM’s capability in the delivery of environmental impact assessment projects has been bolstered by the appointments of Nigel Peters and Kevin Mundy.
Mr Peters has more than 25 years experience working on major international projects such as the Sakhalin II oil and gas development in Russia and in the Kashagan oil field in the Caspian Sea.
Mr Mundy joins SKM from Shell in the Netherlands where he was a principal environmental specialist.
Jeff Rathgeber joined SKM’s energy client management team in 2011, relocating to Brisbane from Plains Midstream in Canada. Mr Rathgeber will direct the firm’s energy portfolio on the east coast of Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand.
Colin O’Neill, who was previously with oil and gas giant AMEC in Aberdeen in the UK and then in WA, has been appointed to perform a similar energy portfolio management role for SKM across WA, the Northern Territory and South East Asia.
“The quality, diversity and exceptional experience of this group, coupled with SKM’s already extensive concept of closure project delivery, engineering and strategic consulting will further strengthen our position in the oil and gas professional services industry,” SKM group manager Alan Fotheringham said.
