Expertise for every stage of the project life cycle

CHOSEN by GDF SUEZ Bonaparte (the operator of the Bonaparte LNG project) to carry out the upstream concept definition phase of the proposed floating liquifaction facility in the Bonaparte Basin, 250km west of Darwin in the Timor Sea, Granherne has used its established conceptual field development processes to select the most appropriate scenarios to move the project forward.
Some key contributions to the project made by Granherne include an evaluation of various topsides and structural configurations, with wet versus dry tree options including drilling platform interfaces and drill rig options; the development of field layouts and subsea architecture options; technical modelling, definition, comparison and optimisation of processing options; and construction and installation assessments, in addition to cost estimations for the various concepts.
As the study was conducted in Perth, the company was also able to provide GDF SUEZ Bonaparte with regulatory advice and a local perspective.
“We have the expertise to support the client through every stage of their project’s life cycle, with a multidisciplinary team of talented and experienced engineers,” Granherne subsea and pipelines manager Brian Taylor said.
“We can now offer a complete, fully-integrated and truly independent subsea consulting capability right here in Perth.” The company executes its engineering services with particular attention to the interdisciplinary aspects of a system, and
the systems that its work affects. “Our engineering consultants work closely with the client’s functional leaders in areas such as reservoir evaluation, drilling and completions or operations, to coordinate, assist and/ or execute system-wide work activities,” Granherne stated.
The company’s in-house technical expertise now includes subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF), subsea hardware and control systems, subsea processing, hulls and moorings, and structural and installation analysis.
“The system engineering, production and operability assurance techniques and work processes available to our team are the most advanced in the industry, and deliver systems of absolute dependability,” Granherne stated.
Mr Taylor said that the company’s existing capabilities were well respected in the industry, and that they were being enhanced significantly by including this expertise as an integral part of every project.
