Job site takes top prize at inaugural awards ceremony

ONE of the industry’s premier job sites, Oil and Gas Job Search, has won the title of Business of the Year at the inaugural 2012 Stockport Business Awards.
The prize was judged on trading performance and future objectives, the competitive advantage of the business and examples of specific strategies that have driven growth.
Managing director Duncan Freer said he was pleased with the honour. “Our team has been extremely busy over the past 12 months, optimising our processes to achieve our business growth,” he said.
“We are delighted to have been recognised with this award, and it’s a true reflection of the hard work and dedication of all our staff.”
The company was also runner up in the for Best International Export Company category.
The most prestigious accolade of the night, the Special Recognition award, was presented to building contractor FT Finley and Co: the company that had made the greatest contribution to the local business community.
The Most Promising Young Business of the Year was won by the fast-growing online personalised gifts retailer ToxicFox.co.uk. More than 300 people attended the glamorous black tie event at the Hallmark Hotel in Handforth, Manchester, England, which was hosted by the BBC’s Becky Want.
There were also special appearances by Paralympic medal winners Matthew Walker and Anthony Kappes, and former NBA star John Amaechi.
Organiser Andrew Baggott congratulated the winners and said he looked forward to building on the event’s success in 2013.
“The awards evening was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate all that is great about Stockport and recognise the achievements of some of its leading businesses, both large and small, who are doing outstanding work, helping others and giving something back to the community,” he said.
