Oil and gas road project delivery innovation

polycomPolyCom Stabilising Aid is a high-performing road stabilisation product with applications for sealed and unsealed road construction and maintenance. The Australian-made stabiliser is used for mining haul road maintenance. transport hardstands, embankment stabilisation and general earthworks by mining companies and roadmakers across the country.

PolyCom’s pronounced effect on the behaviour of the pavement leads to dramatic reductions in maintenance, which in turn reduces life cycle costs.

The simplicity of the whole process from delivery to application is what makes PolyCom truly remarkable. Supplied in 2kg bottles, this amount of PolyCom will stabilise 50m³ or 100 tonnes of material. Again, the application rate is so simple, and is the same for every material. PolyCom was developed this way. ??If you are stabilising a 1km long road, 5m wide to a depth of 100mm, you only need 10 bottles of PolyCom. This quantity can be delivered by car!

So how can so little go so far? Well, PolyCom is sophisticated in both design and development, with simplicity of use in every facet of its application.

A purpose-built spreading unit is attached to the rear of a site vehicle or can be handheld for small areas, and only takes a few minutes to spread the product in dry form. PolyCom spreading will not disrupt normal construction practices, and is so simple it can be applied by any person in the crew.

Once spread, all that is needed is the usual road construction plant, that is a grader, rollers and a water truck. PolyCom is then mixed through the material with simple blade mixing. For remote communities, this simple and inexpensive method results in an enhanced unsealed pavement with greatly reduced maintenance and cost  – a highly desirable and effective outcome.

Finally, perhaps the most  simple aspect of PolyCom is that it will work with almost any existing road material which prevents the costly importation of expensive gravel. Just use what you have and add PolyCom. Simple!
